The 5-day Lost City Tour is an adventure type excursion in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta; the objective of this hike is to get to know a very beautiful stretch called the Cascadas, a natural scenery full of flora and fauna that you will see on the fourth day of the hike.

The trekking is somewhat demanding, not as demanding as the 4-day tour, but the important thing is that you will always be accompanied by 1 or 2 native indigenous guides who will facilitate the walk in the jungles and mountains of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta; embark on an exciting expedition to the Lost City and discover the authenticity of Indigenous Tourism in Colombia.

The Lost City Trek Colombia 4 Days is the most popular trekking option for travelers in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.
The camps, which are the places where they will have lodging and food, belong to the peasant and indigenous communities of the region, it must be taken into account that they are robust and geographically difficult to access, without the comforts that we have on a daily basis.
The lodging on the route that segment the cabins on the trail to the Lost City is 70% Hammocks – 30% Beds, the lodging depends directly on the season and the demand of tourists who occupy that camp.
Please note that this new 5-day excursion to the Lost City Colombia is an adventure trekking through trails surrounded by jungle, typical of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, which involves risks and constant physical activity.

Each adventurer is responsible for their belongings, Wiwa Tours is not responsible for lost clothing or articles in the camps or on the trail.

5-DAY LOST CITY TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1

The adventure begins in Santa Marta, tourists meet at the Wiwa Tours main office, where they are loaded into a van or pick-up truck to Mamey (approximately 3 hours).

Arriving at Mamey, you will be organized in the restaurant to eat a delicious peasant lunch, then the guide will start with the explanation of the tour to the Lost City Tayrona, then begins the trek of approximately 5 hours from Mamey to the first camp (beautiful view), during the tour, you will have the opportunity to enjoy crystal clear rivers and scenery that the majestic Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta has to offer.

Get ready to live an unforgettable experience while exploring the ancestral treasures of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.

Day 2

We will start our second day very early with breakfast at 6 am to start trekking from the first camp to the second “Wiwa hut”, near the hut you can enjoy a refreshing swim in the Wiwa waterfall while waiting for lunch, after a short rest, you will be fed and continue the adventure to Paso Lorenzo camp.

During this second trek of the day, you will pass very close to a Kogui indigenous community where you can take pictures from outside the territory; the hike continues to Paso Lorenzo, this hut is located at 830 meters above sea level and is the closest to the Ciudad Perdida Tayrona, here you will spend the night, have lodging and dinner.

Day 3

We will leave Paso Lorenzo camp very early in the morning with a trekking of approximately 2 km towards our longed-for Lost City, where we will climb 1,200 steps that will lead us through intercommunicated paths, retaining walls, terraces with rings where the ancient Tayrona dwellings rested.

We will be surrounded by a magical diversity of fauna and flora that gives us different views and landscapes left by the ancient Tayrona empire. After our tour we will descend to our third camp (Paraíso Teyuna) for lunch and then return to the second camp (Cabaña Wiwa) where we will spend the night.

Day 4

After breakfast we will take a detour from the main trail that leads us to cross the Buriticá River, after a walk of about an hour, we will arrive at the Pablo Waterfall where we will enjoy this beautiful corner of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.

At the end we will continue our journey down the orographic right side of the Buriticá River where we will cross some streams and find the second waterfall called El Abanico.

In the afternoon, we will be able to observe and learn about some of the organic crops of the region, such as yucca, malanga and banana; we will also be able to visit the third waterfall, Cascada de Tina, another beautiful waterfall that is only 5 minutes away from the camp where you will spend the night.

Day 5

Our magnificent experience in the middle of nature comes to an end, we will return on a journey where we will cross again the Buriticá river and the Honduras creek until we reach the Mamey, where we will enjoy a delicious lunch before returning in the vehicle to Santa Marta.

Note: The itinerary of the trek to the Lost City Colombia may vary depending on weather conditions or means of ground transportation.

Important Information on the Lost City Tour

During this 5-day tour to the Lost City Colombia, you must respect the privacy and culture of the indigenous people. We should not enter their huts, nor take photographs of them or their belongings, without first informing the indigenous guide of the protocol to be followed.

Carry only the essentials in your suitcase, since weight is a determining factor when walking long distances, make sure you are in good physical condition, avoid drinking alcoholic beverages the day before and try to return all garbage to Santa Marta.

Not damage natural or cultural assets in the lost City . There is no cell phone signal during the tour, so please advise your family and friends that you will only be able to communicate with them once you return from your experience.

During the day the weather is hot and humid, so we recommend wearing comfortable clothes, T-shirts and shorts for walking; During the night the temperature drops to approximately 14 ° C and there is a greater presence of mosquitoes and other insects, it is important to wear long pants and long-sleeved shirts to sleep and use insect repellent.

Reservation Policies

Only this 5-day trek to Lost City Tour Colombia 5 Days by performing a deposit corresponding to 10% of the total value of the tour (2.150.000 COP ) through our web payment gateway, the remaining 90% must be paid at the Wiwa Tours office, the same day we leave for the Lost City Trek.

The identity document is a fundamental requirement to reserve the Trekking to the Lost City Santa Marta, for nationals, a copy of the personal identification card or passport in case of being a foreigner. For the day we go out on the tour, it is not necessary to bring your identity document, at least bring a copy of it.

To cancel or modify a confirmed reservation, you must contact us 48 hours before the start of the Tour, during business hours.

Once the trekking to the Lost City has started, no reimbursement of any kind will be made.

Cancellation Policies

Cancellation Policies
For cancellations, WIWA TOURS applies a penalty of 100% of the amount deposited in the reservation, equivalent to 10% of the total value. However, if notification is made at least 20 days in advance, the client can transfer the reservation to another person, change the tour or request a voucher to redeem in the next six months.

No Show and Penalties
Failure to show up on the agreed date and time will result in a charge of 100% of the value reserved for the activities, which is equivalent to 10% of the tour value. WIWA TOURS is not responsible for external causes, such as delays, missed flights, illness, notice problems, or any other situation that prevents timely arrival at the meeting point.
Once the tour has begun, refunds will not be possible. This is because the services involved, such as transportation, guides, attraction tickets, and other operational costs, will have already been committed and are non-recoverable. We appreciate your understanding and recommend that our customers verify all tour details before departure to ensure an optimal experience.

Bonus Voucher
WIWA TOURS may issue a voucher that allows you to reschedule your reservation or use it on another trip without losing your deposit. This voucher is valid for six months from its issue and differences in the value of the contracted services will not be refunded.

Rescheduling Reservation
It is possible to reschedule the reservation, as long as it is requested at least ten (10) days in advance of the start date of the trip.

Reservation Modification
Travelers are responsible for making changes to their reservations and assuming any associated costs. Rescheduling is subject to approval by WIWA TOURS and may incur additional fees.

Right of Withdrawal
The customer has a maximum period of five (5) business days, counted from the delivery of the goods or the conclusion of the contract, to exercise the right of withdrawal. This right will be adjusted according to the provisions of article 47 of law 1480 of 2011.
